Jordi Suriñach is Full professor of Applied Economics at the University of Barcelona since 1993. In 1987 he obtained his Ph. D. in Economics and Management Science at the same university.
Currently, he is President of the Spanish Regional Science Association (AECR) and since 2017 is Director of the Department of Econometrics, Statistics and Applied Economy at the University of Barcelona. Since 2012 he is also the Director of the Laboratory of Applied Economics AQR-Lab. He has been Vice-Rector of Research of the University of Barcelona, director of the Regional Institute of Applied Economics (IREA-UB) and President of the Catalan Regional Science Association.
His expertise is basically related with regional and urban issues, focused on quantitative techniques, innovation, labour market, among others.
